New Bosstones Album!

Looks like the Mighty Mighty Bosstones have been working on a new record, pretty much since “Pinpoints & Gin Joints” came out. It is titled “the Magic of Youth” and I’m pretty excited about it! For more information and an interview with Dicky check out this article from Alternative Press.

Seriously, I couldn’t be more excited. The Bosstones were one of the few ska bands I heard (along w/ the Toasters and Skankin’ Pickle) back when I was a kid and they’ve always held a special place in my heart. After the excellent new songs from “Medium Rare,” the killer “Pinpoints & Gin Joints” album & the 7″s they’ve put out lately, I’d say they’re on a roll. I can’t wait to hear what “the Magic of Youth” has in store!

23min of Ska : Over Flowing

Ska music, ever over flowing with happiness and mirth. It is not music for wallowing in a bad mood. It is music for cheering up or just keeping your happy going. It is music for dancing, celebrating and generally having a good time. That’s what we have here, a bunch of songs about throwing parties, having a great night out and the joys of mysterious ladies. Seriously listeners when you’re out this weekend may your fun and drinks be over flowing as well.

Maddie Ruthless & the Secret Affair – Heat Fever (Hold the Phone ’10)
the Boss Beats – Bad Habit (the First E.P. ’11)
the Heat Machine – See You in Hell (No Coast Dance Party ’09)
Dance Hall Crashers – I Want it All (Honey I’m Homely! ’97)
Half Past Two – Panic! (It’s About Time ’09)
Tip the Van – Place Like Home (Passion, Love & Pride ’09)
Low Pressure – Child of Distinction (Low Pressure ’97)

23min of Ska : It’s Complicated

This episode’s theme is songs that have only appeared on compilations. Say you’re a big fan of a band and have all of their albums, you still may have never heard these songs! That’s a shame, because there are some classic tracks on here! Seriously, I believe this is the only song from the Silencers that had ever been released. If I’m wrong, tell me, I really would like to know! Also, I think I may’ve stretched it with the final song but it is classified as a “video compilation” so I’d say I’m in the clear!

MU330 – Please Don’t Run (Ska is Dead ’07)
the Toasters – the Stage (Ska Island ’97)
Johnny Socko – Art Show (A Polka) (Misfits of Ska ’94)
Red Soul Community – Anymore (the Soul of Pum Pum Hotel Vol. 1 ’11)
the Silencers – Policeman (Give ‘Em the Boot ’97)
Blind Spot – As Far as Thieves Go (This is Raj and This is Ska ’95)
Greenhouse – 822 Anywhere (Smash Your Radio! ’98)
the Mighty Mighty Bosstones – Common Decency (Video Stew ’97)

23min of Ska Interview : Rude City Riot

Dustin Lionhart III (vocals) from Rude City Riot takes a moment to talk to Rad Jose about his band, their upcoming tour and their brand new album “Nothin’ But Time” They also discus what makes a ska show fun to be at as well as why ska bands just have to be big.
