I asked my listener base for what they thought was the best song they heard in 2021. It didn’t need to have come out in 2021, but that was the year they heard the song. I got a TON of great songs to pick from, so here it is! If it’s a good episode, then I picked the best from what was suggested, and if it isn’t, I blame all the people that told me what to play… just kidding, I love you all!

Hey everyone, there’s been some really great ska and ska/punk coming out lately, here’s just a small sample! Most of these songs were just released last week, heck the oldest one is only a few months old! So yeah, ska’s not dead, not by a long shot! So spruce yourself up, and get dancing, it’s time for ska!

It’s the cross-over event of the year! I’m teaming up with other podcasters to choose songs for the next 7 weeks! This week we have “This I Know with Josh and Joe” co-host Josh! He’s one of my oldest and dearest friends, we were in a band together, we went to a TON of ska shows together back in the day and now we’re collaborating on this episode of 23min of Ska! No better a dude to help kick off this series with!

This episode was a lot more… let’s say laid back when I started it… but, it couldn’t stand… it just didn’t feel right. So I started switching out songs, and switching out more… and more… and eventually I had an all different episode… and episode that feels right, I hope you all agree.

As always I’m trying to bring you a whole batch of new ska. I really hope you like this episode and that you’ve found a new band or two to check out. I think these are all fine fine acts that could use your ears (on recorded songs and live) as well as your wallets (if you have anything to give, that is.) Thanks so much of listening, it means a lot!

I’ll admit, I had a little too much fun with this one. I really hope you all enjoy it too, even if the “ska” of it gets a little lost in the middle. Hope all y’all are having a great time, thanks for listening, thanks for telling your friends about the show (you have told them, right?) and have a great weekend!

Okay, I’m going to level with ya’ll. I’ve never seen “Nikita” AKA “le Femme Nikita.” Hell, I have never even seen “Point of No Return.” But after picking a few songs after reading a plot synopsis on Wikipedia, I decided this episode needed more French bands. So a lot of early picks got replaced, because, well, this is the perfect excuse to get into some French ska! Sure, two American bands remained from the original song line up, but those are good songs which I think are relevant to the film… right? Alright, fine, I just really liked those two songs and didn’t want to replace them, are you happy? Also, I don’t speak French, so I hope that in the songs sang in French those bands aren’t saying some really horrible stuff!
