Everyone knows that ska was created in Jamaica, but ska’s second home was Britain. Again, a fact that most ska fans know. The fun part about Great Britain is that island still is producing some of the best ska around. Here’s a small sample of these great bands! Be they English, Scottish or Welsh, they are putting out some great, great sounds!
The original idea for this episode was for each song to be from a solo act. From there I said “No! It should be all acoustic!” Now, to be fair, I didn’t make sure that they are all exactly acoustic songs, but they mostly are, so, you know, here’s a (mostly?) acoustic set of ska songs for you all to unplug and unwind to.
This is the most colorful episode of the podcast that I’ve ever done! Enough with the puns, on w/ the great music! I hope you all like ska and ska/punk, cuz that’s all your getting. Sorry this write up is short, but I’m on my way to Texas for a wedding, fun time!
Hey all you kids, here’s a special episode that’s close to my heart. Just kidding, it’s just a lot more great ska, ska/punk and rocksteady for you to listen you to on this Valentine’s eve. I guess I don’t have too much more to say about this one, I just hope that you have someone to enjoy listening to this episode with.
Yup, back, sorry about the week off last week, doing 23min of Ska, running Grandpa’s Casino Recordings, producing the Grandpa’s Casino Radio Show all caught up with me! Last time I said I needed to bring back the ska-punk, and I’ve continued on that front! Also, getting in some classic Metro Stylee as well as all manner of UK ska from Drewvis & By the Rivers. Once again I hope that you all find this episode in good health and good times, and if not, may they come to you soon.
Listen folks, I don’t care what you believe, personally, when it comes to this podcast, I just want to get you dancing, or at least bobbin’ your head at your office/put a small hop in your step while out on a walk, but I want you to remember, that these years are all we get. Life is a one time deal and we need not to waste it. We need to spend it pursuing meaningful relationships, entertaining ourselves and spreading joy. Drop needless hate and enjoy every moment you can. I hope that this podcast has brought you some happiness over the last few years (and that it continues on for more), let me know it is always nice to hear from you listeners out there!
Bucking the trends and going against the grain. Doing what you want, without a worry about shame. I don’t care what people say and how they define ska music, I know what I know. There’s nothing missing in any of these great songs, even if some would have you believe that there is. If you guess what is missing easily, then you’ve been paying attention. If you never figure it out because it is all such awesome music, then you’re awesome too. If you are at pains to figure it out after repeating this episode time and time again, don’t worry so much, it was never a contest anyway.
