I came of age in the ’90s, which means, yeah, I read a fair amount of manga. One of my favorites was always Adam Warren’s take on “the Dirty Pair” a sci-fi book that was ages ahead of the curve by decades in ideas, tech, and even the rise of horrible fan-types. It’s about 2 young government workers who are sent to help citizens, but are a bit accident prone so wherever they show up hijinks ensue. Self assured women whose work entertains? Seems like a good theme for a ska podcast…

Ya can’t keep a good podcast down! 23min of Ska hitting back at you after another long week. Get prepped for that weekend, it’s gonna be fun and relaxing one. At least I hope so for your sake. We all need a respite after these last few weeks, right? Now, I’m never one to warn people away from the show, but if you’re not a ska/punk fan, eeeeee, this might not be the episode for you. Certainly there’s some straight up ska in here, but there’s some ska/punk that’s rather heavy on the punk, and just heavy in general. That’s a fair warning: this podcast plays both kinds of music, ska & ska/punk. Deal with it.
Trust can take a long time to build up and can be destroyed very quickly. That’s kind of the theme that’s going on here. Hopefully I have your trust each week to take you on a fun little ska journey each week and introduce you to great bands from today and the past. I hope that you trust me enough to always be picking great bands from around the world that play the ska. And I trust that all of you are entertained.
The night is getting longer, as well as getting colder out. This is the turning point, there’s just a few more weeks of outdoor time before you only leave you living space for transport to work, food or music. No more frolicking in nature for most of you, and if there is, not for very long. This is the time to grab a warm cider, step outside and enjoy it while you can, much like everything else, it is fleeting, so grab it now!
Look at that lovely logo! That Ska-O-Lantern carved by Geoff Henkle! It was part of the annual Ska-O-Lantern contest put on by my buddy Miles! Geoff wins this Honorable Mention for now, good luck in the finals Geoff!
