This episode is a bit all over the place, so, in a sense, it’s the perfect 23min of Ska episode. We have ska from all around the world, some of it played a bit more traditional than not. Some bands take it in a jazzy direction, others in a punky direction. Does it still have that ska beat? You bet your ass it does! This is still 23min of Ska, not 23min of Whatever the Hell Kinda Music!

So very many 23min of Ska episodes are finalized and mixed in the wee hours of the night when I really should be asleep, this episode is no exception. I had a few ideas for this one, luckily it snapped together pretty quickly and awesomely. I always try to plan a few weeks ahead, makes a better podcast, or at least one that doesn’t keep me burning the midnight oil to produce. But this one, this one feels right that it kept me up so late. Exhausted, listening to music I love, to share it with the kind of folks that are awesome enough to listen… well it doesn’t get better than that! I’ll take a million sleepless nights to party with any one of you rascals! Ska is made for late night revelries. And maybe a bad decision or two.
Not knowing your place in the world is a real bummer. It is even more compounded when you have no idea how you got where you were, or because it was the results of what others had planned for you. Accept your destiny, become the best there is at what you do. You owe it to the world not to hide away. While you may never make it to the big times, you made the world a better place by for everyone that you encountered, and that is a great victory indeed.
Could this be the end of 23min of Ska? The ska podcast you’ve all come to love and/or loath? Nope! No one is that lucky! I shall just journey on, trying to bring you all great ska from around the world. So, you know, pretty much good times for all! Well, as long as you’re the type to dig ska at least.
Oh my gosh, I’ve just noticed what I’ve been missing lately on this podcast! Ska-Punk! So you better believe that I weaved a some of that into this episode. Not that I dropped any more traditional stuff, it’s just all in a nicer, more balanced blend this time.
BAM! When you least expect it, here’s a full on music episode! Time to get down and dance! A lot of newer stuff going down here too! We open up w/ the Shifters, who if you haven’t heard of by now, now you know, and now that you’ve heard them, you love them. It’s cool, it happens to everyone! Love of the Shifters is inevitable. This episode also as Survay Says bringing some awesome ska-punk from their new single and the Suburban Legends hitting us up w/ some pop-ska from their latest album. The Upsessions and the Rotterdam Ska-Jazz Foundation bringing us all some great music from Netherlands and a brand new song from the Loose Ties and their upcoming album. This episode closes out w/ a song from the One Droppers who sadly broke up late last week. You were a great band, the One Droppers, you’ll be missed! Thanks for all the music!
