23min of Ska : Sherbet

23skaSHERBETWhat is it with the human condition that makes us so sure of things even when they’re false. Why won’t we accept reality as it is and learn and even grow. No, we dig our heels in and refuse to hear truths. Sometimes we even double down on our misguided beliefs and accuse the truth tellers to be liars. There are even people out there who will come up with crazy cosmic ideas that boil down to “No! No! The rest of the world is wrong, I cannot make a mistake or misremember anything!” Sorry, but we all do it. We all make mistakes and hear and misremember things, it happens. It’s best to open your mind and listen a little bit, even do a little independent research if need to. No worries. Let’s all grow and learn together, and stop holding ourselves back.

Special : You Call it : Vol. 8

23ska-beer
Once again I’ve turned to the wise and wonderful listeners of this very podcast. I asked them to give me the very best songs by under rated bands. They were right, this is some great music by some bands that sometimes get crowded out. We need to remember these act, they are the life blood of the ska sound! Great music brought to me by great listeners! Hope you enjoy!

23min of Ska : California

K-Swiss shoes declared it “California Music Month” in April on some ad I saw on late night television, so I said “I’ll run with it!” That’s right, all these bands are from my new found home of California. Had to kick it off with Op Ivy, had to, hands down, no other way to do it. Some of these songs get very far away from ska, but in the end Slow Gherkin, the Aquabats and Voodoo Glow Skulls still bring the goods. The After Hours toss in a nice traditional sound for all the sticklers out there. And try as I might, I still love the pop ska of Save Ferris.

If you’re in a ska band and would like to be featured or if you know some music that you think I should hear for future inclusion, please email me at radjose[at]gmail[dot]com!
