Sometimes we all need a fresh start in life, if you do, take it! As long as you getting out there and getting a new outlook, try to be slow to anger and avoid the snark of life. Renew. Refresh. Get ready to kick some ass! This world is yours for the living, so live it up! Keep going strong, and when you need a break take one. When you need a new start, head out in that direction with purpose! No half assing allowed from now on! Be in it to win it! What do you win? A life well lived, because trophies are bull shit. The only reward you get is peace of mind and a smile on your face, isn’t that enough?
Kcip ti pu! Netsil ot siht edosipe sdrawkcab! Or don’t, it really wouldn’t make much sense to do a thing like that, but if you do, and it unlocks the secret of the universe, let the rest of us know about that. Either way, the way ska brings people together and that is a magic in its own right! Yeah, music is more that just words and notes, it is almost like a spell. It can express what you’re trying to say more than the words you’re speaking, try to tell me that isn’t like using a superpower!
When life has gotten you down, and you don’t know what to do about it, just stop, think, and smile. Seriously, it sounds goofy as all hell, but it works. It really does. I hate to sound like a hippie here, but it is just as simple as that. And if you need some help returning to that happy person you once were, toss on this episode to brighten your day up! It’s a keeper w/ a ton of great tracks!
It has been a rough week. Working overtime, filing taxes, trying to get back into the exercise habit. That’s just my current burdens, e know we all have our own that we have to carry from week to week until we can shrug them off. The thing is, is that we have to keep looking forward to a brighter future. It’ll happen, for some of us it is as close as the next weekend, drink or concert, but it is coming! So don’t let what life has thrown at you get you too down, as it’ll right itself soon, so that you may grin from ear to ear once more.
Here’s another week of great ska and ska/punk music for all ya’ll! As always I hope you enjoy it! It’s been a rough week for me, and I’m just glad that this episode of great songs from great artists came together so simply and easily so that I could keep this podcast on time! The title for this one, it means nothing. Sorry about that. The episode is a winner, but this description is not. Wait… I can feel it, I can feel the cosmos!
BAM! When you least expect it, here’s a full on music episode! Time to get down and dance! A lot of newer stuff going down here too! We open up w/ the Shifters, who if you haven’t heard of by now, now you know, and now that you’ve heard them, you love them. It’s cool, it happens to everyone! Love of the Shifters is inevitable. This episode also as Survay Says bringing some awesome ska-punk from their new single and the Suburban Legends hitting us up w/ some pop-ska from their latest album. The Upsessions and the Rotterdam Ska-Jazz Foundation bringing us all some great music from Netherlands and a brand new song from the Loose Ties and their upcoming album. This episode closes out w/ a song from the One Droppers who sadly broke up late last week. You were a great band, the One Droppers, you’ll be missed! Thanks for all the music!
What’s the story fellow ska fans? I’ve got a fine new batch of songs ready to go! Oddly enough when I started this episode every song was from 1997 and 1998, but as the days went on I found more and more great bands that I just had include! Some of these I got by being super sneaky and stalkery on facebook, others I found when I went looking for new songs by other bands and happened to see mentions of these fine bands. Seriously, four of these bands I didn’t even know about until this month! The current state of ska continues to surprise and delight me. I couldn’t be happier to be putting together podcast for you guys every 11ish days, I hope you all continue to enjoy listening to this as I do making it!
