This is one of these episodes that doesn’t earn me any new listeners, and probably costs me some, but that I can’t help but love. It’s got ska-core, ska-punk, straight up ska, rock steady, and a long song in a non-English language. These episodes don’t always do well, but they’re always my favorites! It is the variety of the sound that drives my ska fandom, that shall not change.
I debated if I should write out any kind of description at all for this episode. I almost didn’t finish it. I’ve been battling a headache all day, and of course headphones and music doesn’t suit that. It was also tough because due to the headache I kept wanting to go more laid back, but in my heart I wanted to go more aggressive, so I think a balance was struck. The world needs music, I intend to keep trying to bring some to you all.

You can’t sit idle. You have to go out and make a difference in this world. Don’t apologize for the fact that the way to creation is always destruction. Get out there and tear down what doesn’t work and build it up with something better. At least add something positive to this mess. This is the world, and it is cold and harsh and violent, and sometimes you have to react in a like manner. Then again, I never said you had to be such a serious sour puss about it. This podcast is one of the small things I do on a weekly basis to try and make the world a tad easier to take for myself and anyone who cares to listen. Destroy then rebuild or just add, but don’t sit and watch the world pass you by.

Listen folks, I don’t care what you believe, personally, when it comes to this podcast, I just want to get you dancing, or at least bobbin’ your head at your office/put a small hop in your step while out on a walk, but I want you to remember, that these years are all we get. Life is a one time deal and we need not to waste it. We need to spend it pursuing meaningful relationships, entertaining ourselves and spreading joy. Drop needless hate and enjoy every moment you can. I hope that this podcast has brought you some happiness over the last few years (and that it continues on for more), let me know it is always nice to hear from you listeners out there!
Oh yeah, back with the first new full music episode of 2012! We have a lot here! A bunch of newer songs and a bit of older stuff thrown in. I mean we go way back w/ some Desmond Dekker before speeding up to some late 90’s jams from Johnny Socko and the Agents. Then it is a quick stop from Monkey on the way up to the present with the Upsessions and Do It With Malice, two of my favorite more resent bands. And we also get smacked with A Guy Named Guy’s killer new song, that should be an anthem for the new year! Ska music’s not going to die, it just lost it’s direction, now that we have a plan of action, I just want to hear the music’s personality, give me action and some dancing! This is what it all about, new ska, old ska, traditional ska, punk ska, pop ska, super mind-bending hybrid ska! It gets me up in the morning and sets the day right! Hope it does the same for you. It is good to be back!
What’s this? A bunch of songs about the ladies? Hells yeah it is! Go crazy! But, for reals, several odes to women, how awesome they are, how much they are missed and even a few about how they’ve done ya wrong. Oh, and that little guy in the picture, that’s my lil two tone cat Mr. Pants. He’s always tryin’ to seduce the ladies. Oh, that Mr. Pants!

What’s the story fellow ska fans? I’ve got a fine new batch of songs ready to go! Oddly enough when I started this episode every song was from 1997 and 1998, but as the days went on I found more and more great bands that I just had include! Some of these I got by being super sneaky and stalkery on facebook, others I found when I went looking for new songs by other bands and happened to see mentions of these fine bands. Seriously, four of these bands I didn’t even know about until this month! The current state of ska continues to surprise and delight me. I couldn’t be happier to be putting together podcast for you guys every 11ish days, I hope you all continue to enjoy listening to this as I do making it!
