500 episodes of 23min of Ska! What the absolute heck? How have I reached this lofty number? Support from my wife, kittens, and all the great listeners and bands that allow me to share their fantastic music, that’s how! It’s been a long road, but damn, I wouldn’t have it any other way. Thanks for listening. I mean really, THANKS!

So I decided I needed a vacation, but who could fill for me and still do a rad job? Well it’s Chris over at Ska Punk International, of course! Chris wanted highlight his recent release of “Songs for Moms Volume 1.” The proceeds for this comp go to go to the Prevent Cancer Foundation. This is only about half the tracks on the comp, so buy it and get the full awesomeness!

Ok, here we are, ready to start another 23 episode cycle of 23min of Ska! As always, I hope you are ready to join in on music, find some new bands, and remember older ones… but not too much older. As you can see from this playlist, I try to keep it pretty current with just a handful of tracks from the past. So yeah, in the next 23 episodes you’re going to hear a lot of new ska, and yeah, there’s going to be a bit of a “comics” theme going on (hopefully not too annoying) but I hope you stick around if it’s your first time listening, and if not, thanks for coming back, I mean that! Thanks for listening and keeping up with the show!

Well folks, looks like you’re once again stuck with me, RJ Phoenix to prepare, mix and then cast this show back out to you. I’d like to once again thank the other folks who made the last 7 episodes so fantastic! But I’ve prattled on enough, get to the music you magnificent folks!

After 2 solid ska/punk and high energy ska episodes in a row, I decided to take it down a notch on this one. Also, when I started this session of 23min of Ska I dedicated it to my friend Lawless, and well, it’s about to get a little Lawless up in here because I’m including a clutch of songs from his Moondust record label on this one. I’m keeping it a bit laid back to make the tone a little chill, but also to give us all a bit of breather to relax and reflect.

I’ll admit, I had a little too much fun with this one. I really hope you all enjoy it too, even if the “ska” of it gets a little lost in the middle. Hope all y’all are having a great time, thanks for listening, thanks for telling your friends about the show (you have told them, right?) and have a great weekend!

After I put this episode together, and much too late, I realized that I missed my chance to look for and include a song by the name “Notorious.” I guess part of the problem was that none came to mind. Anyway, here’s the new episode, I hope you dig it, I have been enjoying this one all week (the spoils of being prepared for once!)

Unlike last week, I’m keeping it pretty traditional as far as the sound goes. I mean, there’s still some room for other genres to worm into the ska beat, but it certainly isn’t punk or rock this time. It’s a laid-back kind of sound this week. I hope you all enjoy. Oh, and take care of each other out there, it’s been a rough one this week.
