23min of Ska : Cookies & Cream

23skaCANDC

Big ska show last weekend. Well, it was for me! I traveled all the way back to my home state of Illinois to see MU330, Coolidge, the Eclectics, a supergroup of ska musicians from the Exceptions, the Parka Kings, Ganger Fun and Rude King, Skapone and the Tango Wedding Band. I went with my little brother and it was like old times. Ska band after ska band bringing the tunes for hours! Besides hanging out with the few band members I knew, I also ran into my old friends Kip and Kate and also got to meet the boys behind the Windy City Sound System podcast! Too much fun, too much goodwill!

23min of Ska : Boston Cream

To tell the truth, I really never thought about doing an episode focused in on a single city before. And while I’m sure Boston isn’t the only city in the world that could produce such a solid episode, it’s the first one that came to my mind. Heck, I got the idea a few weeks ago and then did nothing but basically research which Big D and Bosstones songs I’d played before (to make sure I didn’t repeat any) until I sat down this afternoon, and it came so easy. Boston, thanks for being such a good town for ska music! (Also, the number of times I typed Bosstone when I meant to type Boston is far too high!)

23min of Ska : Coconut

Alright, let’s get down to it. It’s been a long week. We all need to celebrate the fact that we’ve just about wrapped up another one. Things can suck, oh they surely can! But we can’t let that stop us. All the craziness and horror going on around us, we have to push through it. We have to fight it. If dancing and ska music help you, then you’ve come to the right place.
