23min of Ska : Boston Cream

To tell the truth, I really never thought about doing an episode focused in on a single city before. And while I’m sure Boston isn’t the only city in the world that could produce such a solid episode, it’s the first one that came to my mind. Heck, I got the idea a few weeks ago and then did nothing but basically research which Big D and Bosstones songs I’d played before (to make sure I didn’t repeat any) until I sat down this afternoon, and it came so easy. Boston, thanks for being such a good town for ska music! (Also, the number of times I typed Bosstone when I meant to type Boston is far too high!)

23min of Ska : King in Yellow

23skatrenchcoatThis started out as an all covers episode, but that was earlier in the day. By the time the sun set I was in a much mellower mood, and let’s be real, most covers are very uptempo and very ska/punk-centric. So yeah, this one is a little laid back, and the laid back cover hung in there. A relaxing little treat after you’ve binged food all day. Well, that is, if you’re in the U.S. if not, you have a real problem, buddy!

23min of Ska : Days of Future Present

23skaFUTUREPRESENTI’m going to admit it right here, straight up, all I wanted to do was bring you a batch of fresh new ska music released in the first few months of 2016. I wasn’t really worried about the theme, plus this story is kind of a mess. But, it seems like it fits the story anyway! Not even kidding, I noticed it at about my third listen through to make sure the episode was sounding good that a large amount of these songs do reflect the story, a bit more surface than usual though. Accidentally achieving a theme with music, must be my mutant power.

23min of Ska : the Statue of Zeus at Olympia

23skaZEUSHere it is! Another great twenty three minutes of ska music! Thank the gods of music that such sounds have reached your ears! We’re a week into 2015 and things are off to a decent start for all of you I hope! Seriously, listeners, life is only what we make of it. In our darkest times, if we don’t keep the light inside of us, we will also grow dark. It is easy to be positive when everything is going well, but it is much more rewarding when you can remain positive in the most negative of situations. I think it is called “developing character” or something like that, but it seems like such a meaningless phrase. All I’m saying that is when it is hardest to remain positive that that is the time when you need to make yourself positive.
