23min of Ska : Pick Up on Noon Street

23skaFINGERMANWhen I started putting this episode together, I was pretty mellow, I was digging what I was assembling, but I thought it needed some bite. The next day I sat down to “improve” it and I was already angry. I was wasn’t having any of the mellowness of the day before. As I picked and tossed new songs I started finding my way back to a more laid back state. This episode isn’t going after you, but it also isn’t a going to lay down, it shall be heard and you shall dance to it!

23min of Ska : Guarded from Every Direction

23ska8BALLIt’s been a long few weeks listeners, but now is the time to relax, let your guard down and dance. I’ve found that you can’t enjoy life if you’re constantly on guard, waiting for something to go wrong. Things go wrong, you can’t stop that! So just be happy when things are going right and forget all that negative energy!

23min of Ska : Mr. Miracle

23skaMIRACLEIf you’re ever stuck in life, just go, escape, especially if you’re mentally trapped. Life is too damn short to feel boxed in anywhere! You’d be surprised how simple it is to leave things that suck behind once you commit to ridding yourself of them. The first step in the hardest, it feels like trying to escape a black hole, but you can do it, and it gets easier once you start. Now, you won’t always get off scot-free, there is always a bit of pain, but in the end you’ll be all the better for it.

23min of Ska : Back and Forth and Back Again

23skaHAWAIIANBack when I was a young lad, which is going back further and further all the time, a group of friends and I would go to any ska shows we could find. One such show took us all the way to a Rockford, IL skate park. At said skate park was a ska show that started at 10 AM and ended at 10 PM. It was glorious! 12 hours of ska! My favorite part was that every band was a bit different, traditional ska, ska-punk, new wavey ska, you know what I’m saying, right? Anyway, I loved it! After a more traditional band, then a punky one, then a more 2 Tone style band followed by a ska-pop band! This is what I’m trying to bring out on this episode, going back and forth all over the style map, but it all has that killer ska beat.

the Impossibles – Come Back (Come Back / the Position ’13)
the Smooths – History’s Burning (No Breaks ’98)
Pressure Cooker – Rockin’ by the Sea (Burning Fence ’03)
Call Me Malcolm – Does My Offbeat Look Big in This? (Check Sells ’11)
LODD – Ska James Infirmary (Et Pourquoi? ’11)
New Riot – Welcome to Our World (Riot.Sleep.Repeat ’11)
the Pressure – Fly No More (the Pressure ’14)

23min of Ska : Day in the Park

23ska-yellowplaidI want to go to the park. Go to the park and put on some good music and dance. Dance my ass off. It would be great. Ska music, sunshine and nature. Happiness would abound. But for many it is too cold for all that, so put on this episode and think of those times, let it be a reminder of what is in the coming months. The sun and warmth is coming, but the ska beat will ever be at your side to guide you towards it.

the Pressure – Walkin’ (Walkin’ ’11)
the Ska Vengers – the Boy Who Radiates That Charm (Ska Vengers ’13)
Johnny Nine and the Racers – Watch Out! (Chin Up ’09)
the Pinstripes – Set Me Free (the Decay ’07)

Deal’s Gone Bad – Messin’ Around (the Ramblers ’07)

Assekes – Mero (En Poques Paraules ’12)
