When I started putting this episode together, I was pretty mellow, I was digging what I was assembling, but I thought it needed some bite. The next day I sat down to “improve” it and I was already angry. I was wasn’t having any of the mellowness of the day before. As I picked and tossed new songs I started finding my way back to a more laid back state. This episode isn’t going after you, but it also isn’t a going to lay down, it shall be heard and you shall dance to it!

This episode is not about tennis. This episode is about awesomeness. Awesomeness like my wife, and it is our 4th anniversary this very day! Hurrah! She’s awesome, I suggest everyone leap out into the world and try and find someone to grow old with, trust me, it’s worth it! Ok, if I type anymore, it’ll get mushier, so I’ll just stop here.
It’s been a long few weeks listeners, but now is the time to relax, let your guard down and dance. I’ve found that you can’t enjoy life if you’re constantly on guard, waiting for something to go wrong. Things go wrong, you can’t stop that! So just be happy when things are going right and forget all that negative energy!
If you’re ever stuck in life, just go, escape, especially if you’re mentally trapped. Life is too damn short to feel boxed in anywhere! You’d be surprised how simple it is to leave things that suck behind once you commit to ridding yourself of them. The first step in the hardest, it feels like trying to escape a black hole, but you can do it, and it gets easier once you start. Now, you won’t always get off scot-free, there is always a bit of pain, but in the end you’ll be all the better for it.
Back when I was a young lad, which is going back further and further all the time, a group of friends and I would go to any ska shows we could find. One such show took us all the way to a Rockford, IL skate park. At said skate park was a ska show that started at 10 AM and ended at 10 PM. It was glorious! 12 hours of ska! My favorite part was that every band was a bit different, traditional ska, ska-punk, new wavey ska, you know what I’m saying, right? Anyway, I loved it! After a more traditional band, then a punky one, then a more 2 Tone style band followed by a ska-pop band! This is what I’m trying to bring out on this episode, going back and forth all over the style map, but it all has that killer ska beat.
I want to go to the park. Go to the park and put on some good music and dance. Dance my ass off. It would be great. Ska music, sunshine and nature. Happiness would abound. But for many it is too cold for all that, so put on this episode and think of those times, let it be a reminder of what is in the coming months. The sun and warmth is coming, but the ska beat will ever be at your side to guide you towards it.
