“Try the girl” they mocked, but Foggy wasn’t having it, besides, she knew that blackmailers don’t shoot. She was looking for the finger-man that framed her. Sure, her necklace had broken at the crime scene, pearls are a nuisance, but she wasn’t the killer in the rain. The blackmailers caught up to her when she was on her way to a pick up on Noon street, and they threatened to turn her into the cops for messing in their business. She scoffed. She sized up her would-be captors, smirked and told them “Trouble is my business” and dashed off, knowing she had about 23 minutes to clear her name.

Welcome back to an all-new session of 23min of Ska! Here’s the first of several episodes this set featuring ska record labels! In doing this I knew, as a midwest native, I had to start out with Jump Up Records! I’ve been running into Jump Up head honcho Chuck for the better part of 20 years. He always has a smile and is happy to talk some ska. Here’s a pretty small sampling of what Jump Up has gotten out over the last several years, there’s so much other great stuff that I couldn’t fit in this episode, but I think it’s a pretty good representation of what I dig about Chuck and Jump Up records!
Woah! I did manage to get an episode out this week! Hurrah! Seriously, I had a couple of the best new songs to work with this week, plus some slightly older favorites that should’ve been played years ago! Enjoy!
We all like ska, right?
When I started putting this episode together, I was pretty mellow, I was digging what I was assembling, but I thought it needed some bite. The next day I sat down to “improve” it and I was already angry. I was wasn’t having any of the mellowness of the day before. As I picked and tossed new songs I started finding my way back to a more laid back state. This episode isn’t going after you, but it also isn’t a going to lay down, it shall be heard and you shall dance to it!
