Welcome to the 18th and latest session of 23min of Ska. This session is all about trucker slang because why not, it’s my podcast, I’ll do what I want. I’m pulling back on the intense art commitment this time around, but I may make a few tweaks as I go on. Also, I’m taking a break for the next 23 episodes w/ doing the ska label highlights, those were fun, and I’m totally going to do something like that again, but not anytime soon.
I don’t know what to say here… here’s some ska. I really hope you dig it. I seriously love every song on this episode, even the one in a language I don’t fully understand, but that’s the thing about ska, right? It’s bringing us together. The love of music, the love of a good time, that’s ska. No matter the language, no matter the country, no matter the decade, it’s that ska beat that brings us joy. I hope this episode brings you joy too.
Back at it with some more ska for you, in fact, a whole 23 minutes worth! Can you believe it! So this episode is kinda laid back but is also all over the place. One of the few rules I have for this podcast is that a song has got to have some ska beat in it somewhere. Do all of these songs do that? They sure do! Is that beat through-out the duration of each song? Sure isn’t. Ska is the beat, if it’s got the beat, I’ll play it on the show. Can it be surrounded by a lot of other stuff? Yup. Can it wildly deviate from the beat at times? I’ll allow it. Wait, isn’t it some of this stuff just straight up rocksteady? Shut your dirty mouth, I sometimes play rocksteady, accept it.
So here we go again! Oh yeah, it’s a covers episode. No, no, no, don’t let that scare you off! It’s ska covering ska! I mean that’s pretty neat, right? There was a ton of stuff out there for this episode, but I’ve played those songs before. Not going to lie, I thought it was going to be a challenge to find 23mins worth of songs that fit that theme that I hadn’t played before… I was wrong! This came together quite easily! Hell yeah! Good ska all the way around! Enjoy!
