Ok, I’ll admit, I tried my hardest to keep these episodes on theme for each of the seven deadly sins, but, man, Envy was way to hard. Maybe a few songs fit, but really not that much. I at least tried to use song titles that seem like they should be about envy, even when they’re not really in the end. There were some other good songs, but I’d already used them in previous episodes, I’m envious of those episodes for using those songs for no reason when they could’ve been saved for this podcast, if I had this idea earlier!
When life has gotten you down, and you don’t know what to do about it, just stop, think, and smile. Seriously, it sounds goofy as all hell, but it works. It really does. I hate to sound like a hippie here, but it is just as simple as that. And if you need some help returning to that happy person you once were, toss on this episode to brighten your day up! It’s a keeper w/ a ton of great tracks!
Time runs out for the best of us. The most we can do is get out into the world and enjoy it! Some of the bands in this episode are long gone, other have held on for a crazy amount of time! Go see the latter as soon as you can before they become the former. Seriously, everyone, stop complaining about the world and get out in it, it is rewarding, and think of all the stories you can tell later on in life. No one looks back in life and wishes they would’ve done less.
Summer is literally right around the corner! Woo! Let’s hear it for warm weather! Let’s hear it for ska music! Let’s hear some ska music, that’s why we’re here, right? Well then, let’s get started and dig right in to some great music. Great music plus Summer, it is the greatest match ever!
What sucks? Love? No, love is awesome. If you don’t have awesome love, I feel sorry for you, cuz brother, that ain’t love. If you must call it that, call it old love and kick it to the curb, it ain’t doing you no good. Now get out there and embrace some new and awesome love, come on, you dig ska music, you totally deserve it!
Coming at you with a new episode. I like these songs. I don’t have much to say other than how much I dig these songs! The first two bands (the Dropsteppers & the Pinstripes) are from the Midwest, where I once called home and they really bring the ska style back to its roots. Then we have the Backyard Superheroes w/ a song off of their yet to be released EP! The Snails have been putting out constantly great music for a while now and it is about time I have one of their songs on the podcast. Likewise, Small Town Get Up have been throwing it down for a time up in Canada and really need to be heard! Sonic Boom Six, if someone described their style and what they do with the ska beat I think I would say “pass!” and that would’ve been a mistake. So if you haven’t heard them I’m not going to try and prep you to them, just enjoy it. Finally we end w/ a classic track from the Insteps. So there you have it, a well rounded, new to older 3rd wave goodness w/ everything in between.
