23min of Ska : No Evil Shall Escape My Sight

About a year and a half ago I had some surgery which ended up putting me on some pretty heavy painkillers for a few days. During this time, going in and out of sleep I started reading Geoff Johns’ “Green Lantern” run. It would only be a few pages here and there in and out of my head, but it oddly helped and finally got me to be down with Hal Jordan. Hey, I was a teen in the ’90s, Kyle has always been my boy. All in all, I hope you’re down for this episode full of some fantastic music!

23min of Ska : Tutti Frutti

23skaTUTTII hope this podcast finds you well. I hope this podcast finds you at all. It’s a busy time, and hard not to get all caught up in it.
Things seem hectic but brush that stress aside. Don’t get caught up trying to be perfect and experience things in a perfect way. That’s undue stress that you’re better off without. The pressure from now until the end of the year can get rough, so take some time out away from your crazy aunt and drunken uncle and listen to some ska. Relax, you deserve it!

23min of Ska : Mint Chocolate Chip

23skaMINTCHIPAh, back to normal, playing whatever the heck I want as long as it’s ska. I’m not concerned with keeping it traditional or ska/punk, I just care that it has that snappy ska beat to make you pick up your feet. And when your feet are sore, if you need to keep dancing, press on. If we all called it a day once things got difficult I wouldn’t have gotten this episode out tonight. I’m sleepy and my wrists are burning as I write this. But man, I love this collection of songs, I love that I stuck it out! Hell, I love all the songs that I tried to stick in this episode that didn’t work. I’ll get them into your ears soon, promise.

23min of Ska : Rocky Road

23skaROCKYROADNever be too afraid to pause your life, for just a bit. Things happen, out of your control, and you need to take a pit-stop. You can’t do this too often, or even make a habit out of it, for if you do, you’ll lose you motivation to press on. We should always be making forward progress, but a short break from it is never a bad thing. Keep dancing, keep exploring and keep being awesome.

23min of Ska : Luck (Is for Losers)

23ska-ace“Luck is for Losers” is a phrase my wife has been saying a lot lately. It’s totally true. We make our own luck. If you don’t put yourself in the right place at the right time you’ll never even have that chance to “be lucky!” Luck had nothing to do with it, you made the choices in life that lead to such good fortune. About half the bands in this episode took it upon themselves to send me a message about their band and maybe a few songs, the other half I was lucky enough to stumble upon. The former made their own luck, the latter I consider myself lucky to have found. It’s a big, crazy world out there, don’t waste your time, get out in front of it and make your “luck” happen.

00:00 – Greenhouse – Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (Tomorrow the World ’98)
02:39 – Flying Raccoon Suit – Lucky Day (Paper Airplanes ’12)

12:26 – Ellwood – Dancin’ Girl (Lost in Transition ’11)
15:48 – Be Like Max – Local Band (Just Tryin’ to Fit in… Ur Mom ’14)
