Oh, uh, hey look, it’s an episode, on Valentine’s Day! Okay, yeah, it isn’t really all to Valentine Day-y, but with all the computer problems the show has been suffering, well, this episode almost didn’t even get done! I know! I’m shocked I got it out if I’m being completely honest! I hope you enjoy it and I hope to be casting to you next week as well!

Some days things can’t help but get us down. On those days we need some quick movin’ tunes to get us through, to defy the bitterness of reality and meet it with some sweet sweet ska beats. Cheer up and dance!

What do I know about chakras? Not too much, I’m really hoping a whitey like me isn’t offending any Indians whose religious practice includes the chakras. Come to think of it, I didn’t worry about offending Christians when I did theme episodes on the Deadly Sins… well, retroactively, I hope I didn’t upset any Christians. At most the chakras were a spring board to present 7 songs or artists that in some way relate to what each chakra represents. It isn’t perfect, but it was fun to try and figure out, and hell, all of this music is worth hearing anyway, so stop reading and get listening!
I’ve never been one of those people to say that music saved my life, let alone ska music. It didn’t, in the least. But music, especially ska music has enhanced my life in ways I can’t begin to count. It cheers me up when I’m down, it makes me dance when I’m already up, but most of all, it let me meet some of the raddest group of people I’ve ever known. From back in the day when I got into it, up to today, I just can’t believe the friends and acquaintances I’ve made through ska. It really shocks me sometimes. But yeah, ska didn’t save my life, but it might have made it worth living.
Aw yeah, Spring time is fast approaching, and Spring time is the perfect time for some ska music! At least I always thought so. This if for you, you who enjoy Spring, drive w/ the windows open, take a hike, or lounge in your backyard to crank up some ska!
Additional note: Since the new year each band has only had one play on 23min of Ska. It was both harder and easier than I thought it would be. I really wanted to bring more variety to the show this year and I think I may be pulling that off! I think this little experiment was a success w/ exposing myself and all you listeners to a lot more great ska!
