Guten Tag! Welcome to another in our label spotlight series! On this episode, we cover songs from the German label Black Butcher Records, which was a sub-label of Mad Butcher Records. Not only was it home to German ska bands, but also Italian, American and Canadian ska acts as well! Be sure to check them out, because there is a ton of quality music from them available for your listening pleasure!

Another way to support this podcast is to listen to and support our sister podcast the Ska After Party or to buy some records from our partners in crime over at Grandpa’s Casino Recordings, they carry some great vinyl ska records!
This is the second episode assembled on the old 23skaLAPTOP, where actually a majority of the episodes from 2010 – 2016 were assembled! Production was only moved to the 23skaCOMPUTER after uploading the show online had become troublesome due to the laptop’s “planned” obsolescence. With help from the 23skaPHONE and 23skaTABLET we are getting the new eps out, but it’s a struggle to be sure. On the 23skaCOMPUTER front, that dude is dead, yet can be revived! So more like undead. Due to the amazing help of listeners Jason Sample, David Davis and Ryan Michael McCarroll and their amazing patience with my questions, a fix is around the corner! Thanks for listening in, and I hope to be casting out of better digs next week!

Yo, listen up, after last weeks over stuff and frantic episode, I thought we could take it a little easier this week. Geez, I hope you agree, I certainly think it’s another awesome episode! Listen up and enjoy yourself out there, it’s later than you think!
This episode is for my friends, and by that I mean, you guys, my listeners. Also, the bands in this podcast contain some people that range from good acquaintances to long distance friends (except for doctormanette, I don’t even know anyone in that band). So this, is possibly, the one of the friendliest episodes of the show that I have ever put out! Listen with your friends! Also, re: the title “Three Hard Winters,” it’s a reference to Fimbulvetr, the three harsh Winters (without a Summer) in Norse mythology that is the prelude to Ragnarök.
First, check that Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra track! This is kinda the American debut of that song, for reals! The only way to have heard it already is to have been a filthy bootleggin’ pirate! (Or live in Japan I guess.) Second, that intro track by the Zvooks, all intros on any podcast should be that good! The Zvooks used to play a bunch around my area, loved those guys, that song was a set staple, hearing it always brings me back to dancing in an American Legion Hall or the back room of a pizza joint. That’s the thing about ska, it’s always out there, somewhere, lurking, ready to show you a good time and get you to move your feet! All the other songs are flippin’ great as well, but I had to call attention to those two! Enjoy!
Sorry about the rerun folks. It’s been a big busy week for me. I was getting an episode together and it just wasn’t enough! So, in an effort to at least get you something, here’s an episode from back when I was averaging about 10 listeners a month! It’s a great episode too! Might as well save it from being lost to the sands of time!
Here we go, back in the saddle, the kind of show that I’m used to putting together, a bunch of great and modern ska bands from all over and a few of the greats from the more recent past. I hope that you continue to enjoy what I’m doing here week to week.
