23min of Ska : Mandarin’s Jade

23skaaxeI debated if I should write out any kind of description at all for this episode. I almost didn’t finish it. I’ve been battling a headache all day, and of course headphones and music doesn’t suit that. It was also tough because due to the headache I kept wanting to go more laid back, but in my heart I wanted to go more aggressive, so I think a balance was struck. The world needs music, I intend to keep trying to bring some to you all.

23min of Ska : Pints to a Gallon

23skaBEERSBang, this episode gets off with a real start! Hey, it’s a brand new song from the Backyard Superheroes off their brand new EP! It really kicks off this episode thematically too! That’s right, all these songs have a thing or two in common. It’s cool, you don’t have to guess, all the songs feature drinking in some form. Not saying it is good, not always even the focus of the song in question, but drinks, they will be had! And hell, why not, in America it is a holiday weekend, so pop corks and twist the caps, and have a great time!

23min of Ska : To Strike Out On Your Own

23ska-bwplaidMan oh man, do I love phrases that have double meanings! “To strike out on your own” mean either to leave everything behind and enter into the world, or it can mean to fail all by your self. I kinda like that, life always has more than one meaning, which is what makes it so great! Right? Well, I think I’m right at least. So hey, here’s a bunch of kick ass ska and ska/punk music for you! If you never heard of any of these bands before, you’re in for a treat! Also, if you know some of them, but not all, I’ll let know right now, they all measure up to each other. So sit back, relax and may your wins be more than your losses.

23min of Ska : Communism for Fun and Profit

23skaSOAPI hope all my fine listeners out there have been having a great week! I really do! It’s true, you’re all pretty great! Now, I’m not sure how much of you actually read these descriptions that I write, and I don’t blame you. Rarely do I impart some great blue beat wisdom, some ska secrets or the occasional rocksteady conspiracy, but it is a small outlet to contact all of you who take the time to read it. It’s like that liquid soap you buy at the hippie grocery mart that has writing all over the bottle that you never quite find yourself reading. You didn’t buy the soap or download this podcast for the reading, but isn’t it nice that it is still there anyway?

Cartoon Violence – Vauxhall Nova (What Ever Happened to the Likely Lad? ’09)
Bumpin Uglies – Morning After (Ninjah: Reggae Assasins ’13)
2000 Tons of TNT – Tiger Uppercut (Reggae Mysteria ’12)
Poor Jeremy – Dying Like a Fly in a Cup (Spare Change ’13)
Catch-It Kebabs – 5 Years (Return of Kebabulance ’07)
Squirt Gun Warriors – Lucky Hat (Lucky Hat / Give Me Something to Complain About ’12)
Santiago Downbeat – Fidel Castor (Santiago Downbeat ’12)
